FORMATION COORDINATING COMMITTEE

Chairperson: Tammy Moorman

Collaborates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program. Time Commitment: Weekly attendance at RCIA sessions (Wednesdays/Thursdays 7:00 p.m.), occasional assistance in presenting material at sessions and/or at the retreat, including Dismissal during 10:00 a.m. Mass; busiest during Lent and Easter. Volunteer couples help expectant parents explore their faith in preparing their children to receive the Sacrament of Baptism. The sessions take place in a host’s home in a small group. Time Commitment: usually two evening sessions, twice a year. Chairpersons: Patrick and Hilliary Oliver

This program offers an engaged couple a parish-based option for their pre-marriage preparation. An approved sponsor couple (married in the Catholic Church for five or more years) shares their experiences of married life with the engaged couple. Chairpersons: TBD

Facilitates small community gatherings, starting and ending with prayer, and guiding discussion of the resource used by the group. It involves periodic facilitator meetings. The facilitators make up the core community that provides leadership, support, and coordination for all Small Christian Communities. Contact Person: Angela Springer

Gathers year round or seasonally in a member’s home to experience group prayer, scripture study, sharing of experiences of understanding and living the Catholic faith, outreach to society, and mutual support of one another. New groups form based on common interests and compatible schedules. Chairperson: Angela Springer

Facilitates Bible studies and/or Ministry of Mothers Sharing groups. She will guide the members in prayer and devotions, promoting spiritual growth and developing a sense of community among women. Facilitators will be the core of the ministry, providing support, leadership, and building trust among its participants. They will keep in close contact with the Women's Ministry Committee and the Director of Lifelong Formation. Chairpersons: Lisa Stumler and Bonnie Chester

Members will attend seasonal Bible studies, retreats, and/or Ministry of Mothers Sharing groups offered by the Ministry. She will experience group prayer, scripture study, shared experiences of understanding and living the Catholic Faith, and the support and encouragement of one another. This committee provides the opportunity for mothers and children in our parish to meet in a friendly, supportive, and Christian environment. The Mom’s Group organizes social and parish activities to inspire belonging and commitment to our faith. A General Meeting, Playgroups, and Mom’s Night Out are held monthly. This committee provides children age 5 through 5th grade the opportunity to learn the readings and the Gospel proclamation on their own level during the Liturgy of the Word of the regular 10:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. Children interact with each other, their teacher, and with God as they learn God’s Word. Time Commitment: participation averages once every 6-8 weeks between September and May. Catechists help in the religious formation and educa­tion of all grade school children, from kindergarten through Grade 8, of our parish who do not attend Catholic school. Classes meet weekly from August through May for one hour. Catechists plan lessons using a particular religion text to teach the children the Catholic way of life. Teachers are asked to have or to be willing to work toward their Archdiocesan Associate Catechist Certification. Assistants aid the Catechist in the classroom in a variety of ways. This program provides Sunday School lessons for children ages 3 up to kindergarten held during the 10:00 a.m. Mass. These programs are run totally by volunteers who are willing to work 6 to 8 Sundays a year during these sessions. Time Commitment: varies according to the number of family volunteers; currently about every 6 to 7 weeks. Chairpersons: Penny Francis,  Keri Kirsch, and Patti Bray

To implement a week of fun-filled religious theme-centered activities for children 3 years old to 4th grade. Time Commitment: a 2-hour training session and 15 hours one week in July.  Chairpersons: Jenny Nichols, Susan White, and Whitney Lawrence

Celebrate the birth of Christ with our children! Volunteer opportunities for ALL ages. Work behind the scenes, help construct the scenes, or be the scenes! Children are the cast and the parish makes the pageant. Time Commitment: Volunteers may choose areas that require only minimal time and responsibility or take on leadership roles that require numerous hours—it’s up to you! Either way, it’s a wonderful way to share Christmas with our community. Chairperson:  Shannon Wickel

Parents and other interested adults help our School and PREP children learn about stewardship as a way of life. Each grade has its own theme and the children are made aware of needs in the community and given opportunities to serve those needs. Parents work with the teachers throughout the year to focus on the theme through presentations, speakers, and hands-on experiences. The program is based on our gratitude to God for our blessings and our need and responsibility to give back to God through loving service to others. YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY

A committee to help plan and coordinate youth programs while acting as an advisory board to the Youth Minister. Time Commitment: monthly meetings. Contact Person: Amy Smith

Adult and Young Adult Volunteers to help drive and/or chaperone at various Junior High or Senior High Youth Group activities. These activities could include retreats, social gatherings, faith formation, team building, and service projects. Several regional and individualized group settings are offered for parishioners and their friends, ages 18-22-ish. College crowd programs include social events, national and local conferences, retreats. Great opportunity for those away at school to stay connected to their faith community. This group will include young adults beyond college age in their mid 20’s to 30’s, single or married. This ministry will provide an opportunity for social, spiritual, and service activities. Time Commitment: Varies per activity. Contact Person: Candy Nieves, 426-1588 ext.128, cnieves@stmm.org

Through scouting, young men are taught good citizenship, self-reliance, concern for others, and environmental awareness. Indi­viduals without children are also welcome. Time Commitment: 3 hours per week and 1 weekend per month. Chairperson: David Noltemeyer

Scouting concepts are communicated while having fun in a Christian community. Cub Scouting provides families an opportunity to grow together. Time Commitment: approximately one hour meeting per week and various outdoor activities during spring, summer, and autumn months. Chairperson: Robert March and William Brown

From Daisy to Senior scouts (kindergarten through high school), the program focuses on self-development, travel, art, sports, team building, and leadership. A new program, Studio2B (for girls 11 to 17), is a teen-savvy approach to group activities for girls, by girls. Chairperson: Sherri Sprau
