SERVICE COORDINATING COMMITTEE

BEREAVEMENT HOSPITALITY 70

This committee lends support to families at time of death by offering donations of food to families after funeral services. Time Commitment: Food donations required, no more than five times a year. No meetings. Co-Chairperson: Ann Duran or call Parish Office, 426-1588

 

CHILD CARE FOR 10:00 a.m. Mass 71

This service is provided by parent parish volunteers who care for 1 and 2 year olds while their parents attend the 10:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday mornings. Time Commitment: Volunteers work 90-minute shifts, about 3 times per year. No meetings. Chairpersons: Ginnie and Don Hoover, Brittany Floyd, and Kelly Haas

 

COFFEE & DONUTS 72

This committee coordinates and carries out the activities necessary to host social/fellowship time with parishioners on Sunday mornings. These events are generally held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month following the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Masses. Time Commitment: 2 to 6 hours monthly, depending on committee members’ availability. Chairperson: Barbara Theobald

 

COMMUNITY CHEFS 73

This committee provides meals for people in our SMM community who are in need. Reasons for receiving meals include: moms and dads with a new baby and families with a member having surgery or experiencing other hardships. Each member of this committee is asked to prepare and deliver a meal to a family in need. Time Commitment: Your help is needed about three times a year. Chairperson: Sheree Heaphy

 

GRAPHICS CONNECTION 74

Helps keep the many and various parish and school groups connected. This committee creates hand written/hand made posters, nametags, certificates, etc. It’s not just calligraphy any more! Time Commitment: opportunity to help one to four times per year—keep poster board on hand! Chairperson: Karen Kremer

 

HOSPITAL VISITATION 75

These parishioners generously give of their time and love to visit those members of our parish who are in the hospital. This committee also forwards patient information to the Parish Office, and patients’ needs to other related committees. Often a smiling face, a prayer, a word of encouragement can brighten up a whole day for the sick, not to mention the fulfillment and joy given to those doing the visiting. Time Commitment: hospital visits one to three times per year; busiest during winter. No meetings. Chairperson: Ann Stosberg

NEWCOMERS WELCOME 77

This committee contacts new parishioners to provide them with a warm and friendly welcome to the parish. Committee members act as a transitional point-of-contact for the new members – answering questions that they may have over the phone, introducing them to other groups/parishioners, and (if desired by the new members) meeting with them face-to-face. Time Commitment: being willing to make phone calls and potentially meeting 2-3 new member families per quarter. Chairpersons: Karen McNeley

 

NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE 78

These volunteers of writers, photographers, and graphic designers help to keep the whole community informed about the life and activities of our church through the publication of our newsletter 10 times per year. In a large community where a number of pastoral activities are going on, the need for good communication is a constant one. Time Commitment: 1 meeting per month and other work as required for publication. Chairperson: Tom Stephens and Arlene Lovas

 

PARISH REFRESHMENT SERVICES 79

This committee coordinates receptions for parish activities that include or benefit the majority of the parishioners. Its goal is to promote good will and fellowship among parishioners. Tasks involve the coordination, purchase, and/or preparation of food and beverage, room set-up, and room cleanup after the reception. The members of this committee act as hosts and hostesses for parish fellowship receptions. Time Commitment: 1-2 hours one or two times a year. Chairperson: Amy Daus and Lisa Bentz

 

SCAT Senior Citizens Are Treasured 80

This group volunteers its time and love to serve our senior citizens who need a way to church. These seniors are placed on a team of parishioners who are scheduled to drive them to Mass. It is a wonderful way to keep these treasured parishioners a vital part of the parish community. Time Commitment: about once a month. Chairperson: Nimmi Noronha

 

SEWING GROUP 81

Our sewing committee serves the parish and school with ongoing projects, such as creating special items for Baptism (bibs for infants and handkerchiefs for older boys and girls), as well as special projects.  The committee has previously contributed to the production of costumes, RCIA gowns, tablecloths, window curtains, banners, etc. If you have the time and the talent, sign up, and we will notify you when the project work is needed. Time Commitment: Please plan to be involved in at least one project per year. Chairperson:  Jeanine Adams

 

SENIORS 82

The Seniors provide social and spiritual time for its members. Membership is available for those over 55 years of age. The Seniors take trips and sponsor activities, which are based upon the interests of the members, including charitable works with Sister Visitor Program and the Good Shepherd Mission in Whitley City , KY. Time Commitment: meets 1st Sunday of the month at 1:30 p.m. Contact Person: Ann Stivers

 

SOCIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE 83

This committee plans and helps with adult events and dances within the parish. Time Commitment: the planning of two dances and two other events per year. Chairperson: Martha Eimers

 

WELLNESS MINISTRY 84

This ministry promotes health/wellness and aid in disease prevention for parishioners by increasing awareness and knowledge of health-related topics.  Activities include the Annual Health Fair, monthly Blood Pressure Checks, and quarterly Red Cross Blood Drives. The committee is comprised of health care professionals and other individuals interested in wellness and the connection between lifestyle, attitudes, faith, and well-being. Time Commitment: monthly meetings and projects as needed. Chairperson: Jackie Jessie and Bridget Hart

 

PARISH SCHOOL SUPPORT - MARKET DAY 85

This is a PTO food co-op program that earns money for the school. You can purchase restaurant quality foods for quick convenient meals at reasonable prices. Committee members distribute order forms, help individuals with their orders, make reminder calls, and help on the Tuesday pickup day from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Order forms are available in church, the Parish Office, and the school. Time Commitment: varies per area of responsibility. Chairpersons:  Maria Harouff and Kathy Durkee

 

H O P E - Help Our Parish Elderly 86

This new group wants to establish a better parish connection with our senior members with ongoing contact. This may be done through phone calls, greeting cards, sending a parish bulletin, etc. Time Commitment: Weekly or regular contact, based on the wishes of the parishioners involved. Most of these efforts can be done from home. Chairperson: Linda Lenahan
