PARISH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM (P.R.E.P.)
Ages: K through 8th grade
What: The Parish Religious Education Program (P.R.E.P.) assists in the religious education and Christian formation of children attending public and other private schools, by providing formal faith instruction (Catechesis). The aim of P.R.E.P. is to nurture in students a greater love for liturgy, the teachings of the Church, Scripture, and Christ.
When: P.R.E.P. meets from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. each Sunday during the school year. The P.R.E.P. year generally follows the Jefferson County Public School calendar for breaks and holidays. However, if you have any questions about the schedule, please check the P.R.E.P. handbook (given at registration time).
Where: The students meet in the parish school classrooms (designated according to grade level).
How can my child get involved? Registration for P.R.E.P. takes place in July on a designated weekend (or two) after Masses. Please check the bulletin closer to the month of July for more details. Upon registration, all children need a copy of their baptismal certificate, if it is not on file at St. Margaret Mary, and need to pay all textbook and registration fees. If your child needs to be registered midway through the school year due to a move, please contact Stephanie Kornexl, the Children’s Formation Coordinator, to arrange registration.
How do I volunteer? This program is possible because of parents and catechists who give of their time and talents to teach our faith. If you are interested in sharing Gospel values with our students in P.R.E.P. please contact Stephanie Kornexl.
